Pantotaj 40 MG Tablet is used in the treatment of inflammation and severe ulcers of the esophagus caused by chronic acidity.
• Gastroesophagal Reflux Disease
Pantotaj 40 MG Tablet is used in the treatment of reflux disease, where acid from the stomach enters and irritates the food pipe (esophagus).
• Helicobacter pylori Infection
Pantotaj 40 MG Tablet is used to treat Helicobacter Pylori infection in combination with other drugs.
Pantotaj 40 MG Tablet is used to treat a condition where an excessive amount of acid is produced in the stomach due to tumors in the small intestines.
Pantotaj 40 MG Tablet is used to treat ulcers in the stomach (gastric) and small intestines (duodenal). It is also used to prevent ulcers caused due to stress.
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to Pantotaj 40 MG Tablet or any other drug of the same group, i.e. benzimidazoles since it may cause severe allergic reactions. This risk is especially higher if the drug is administered intravenously.
Pantotaj 40 MG Tablet does not give instant relief from heartburn. Hence, it is not effective in treating acute heartburn symptoms.
Pantotaj 40 MG Tablet should be used with caution in patients with active liver diseases or a history of liver diseases due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects. Close monitoring of liver function, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.
Use of high doses of Pantotaj 40 MG Tablet for a prolonged duration may increase the risk of bone fractures. This risk is especially higher in the elderly population and in women. Appropriate calcium and vitamin D supplementation may be required in some cases to reduce this risk.
Long-term treatment with Pantotaj 40 MG Tablet may decrease the absorption of Vitamin B12 in the body. This may cause vitamin B12 and associated symptoms. Appropriate vitamin B12 supplementation may be necessary based on the clinical condition.
Important Safety Information About Pantotaj
Before taking pantoprazole, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to similar drugs (such as lansoprazole, omeprazole); or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: liver disease, lupus.
Some symptoms may actually be signs of a more serious condition. Get medical help right away if you have: heartburn with lightheadedness/sweating/dizziness, chest/jaw/arm/shoulder pain (especially with shortness of breath, unusual sweating), unexplained weight loss.
Proton pump inhibitors (such as pantoprazole) may increase your risk for bone fractures, especially with longer use, higher doses, and in older adults. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about ways to prevent bone loss/fracture, such as by taking calcium (such as calcium citrate) and vitamin D supplements.
Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products).
During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
This medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
